President Trump mocks heckler punched at rally in Youngstown
A protester was punched in the face and removed by police during a Donald Trump rally in Youngstown, Ohio, before the president mocked her from the stage.
A rally attendee punched an unnamed woman in the face at an event Monday in Youngstown, Ohio. The incident occurred during a political speech and led police to remove her from the arena. Attendees cheered the attack with chants of “U.S.A.”
The woman wore a shirt that read “Release the Epstein Files.” President Trump had been criticizing Ohio Senate candidate Sherrod Brown before the disruption started.
Fox News reported police removed the woman from the venue. The man who punched her remained inside. He exchanged high fives with other attendees, according to Fox News.
Trump ridiculed the woman and suggested she was a paid protester.
“They’re all paid,” the president said. “They get paid by the lefties in order to destroy our country. They’re scum. But he’s going back home to mom.”
Officers pulled her out. Trump called her a “fat guy” and said she “needs to go on a diet.”
A similar disturbance occurred Wednesday during an event in San Antonio. Security escorted several protesters from that Texas gathering. One attendee pulled the hair of a man heckling Trump.
“If there are any more paid protesters, please raise your hand and get the hell out of here,” Trump said.
Crowds chanted again. The president has faced backlash regarding records linked to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He also faces scrutiny over rising costs tied to the ongoing Iran war.
Several Republican candidates in battleground states have tried to distance themselves from Trump before the November elections. The president currently faces declining approval ratings.
Campaign events often hire local police and private security to manage crowd safety. Venue security personnel typically separate disruptive individuals to maintain public order. Officers then decide whether to remove attendees from the property.
The disturbance in Youngstown follows recent disruptions across multiple campaign stops. No arrests were immediately reported from the arena.
