Two arrested after Flag City armed robbery and car chase
Two suspects were jailed after an armed robbery in San Joaquin County led to an Interstate 5 vehicle chase, sheriff's deputies reported.
Kimberly Ceja Ochoa and Jose Dani Ramos Alfonso sit jailed following an armed hold-up in San Joaquin County. Both suspects were booked into county jail and are due in court Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said.
Just after 4 p.m. on Monday, deputies with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery. The incident happened at Love’s Travel Stop on Thornton Road in the Flag City area.
The pair carried weapons into the business, deputies said. They stole cash from the location before leaving.
Deputies soon located the suspect vehicle. A pursuit began when the driver refused to pull over. The vehicle fled.
The chase moved directly onto Interstate 5. Deputies deployed spike strips to disable the fleeing car. The vehicle stopped.
Deputies then arrested the two suspected armed robbers. Ochoa, 26, faces charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime and probation violation. Alfonso, 30, faces charges of robbery, conspiracy, and evading a peace officer, according to the sheriff’s office.
County sheriff deputies enforce state penal laws across unincorporated territory. Booked individuals typically remain in holding cells prior to an initial appearance before a judge. Arraignments address official charges and bail terms.
Both defendants remain detained in San Joaquin County pending their Wednesday court appearance.
