Joseph Welding arrested after Fairfield hotel room search finds drugs
Police arrested Joseph Welding at a Fairfield hotel after a room search uncovered suspected drugs, weapons accessories, and hazmat materials.
Joseph Welding was arrested in Fairfield on narcotics and weapons charges, officials announced Friday. Emergency teams evacuated the space because hazardous materials were present inside.
Fairfield Police Department officers contacted the 33-year-old man on the 4300 block of Central Place around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday. Welding was on post-release community supervision, according to police. Officers then conducted a search of his hotel room.
Inside the room, officers found a large quantity of suspected narcotics. They also found firearms accessories and materials indicative of narcotics manufacturing. Solano County hazmat personnel responded to the scene, officials said.
Post-release community supervision provides county-level oversight for people leaving state prison. Specialized teams handle volatile chemicals to keep communities secure. Local agencies coordinate closely during these dangerous incidents.
Fairfield authorities took Welding into custody. He faces multiple charges related to narcotics and weapons.
