A vegetation fire in Jamestown forced residents of a mobile home park to leave Sunday afternoon. The blaze triggered an immediate evacuation order before crews stopped forward spread. Fire officials said the emergency response began in Tuolumne County after flames spread near local roads.

The fire started around 1:29 p.m. near Golf Links Road and Chabroullian Lane, according to Cal Fire. It began less than a mile from a nearby residential area.

An evacuation order went out at 1:51 p.m. for Twin Pines Mobile Home Park, Cal Fire said. Firefighters quickly moved to battle the flames.

Cal Fire reported that crews made “good progress” against the incident. The blaze held at 2 acres as of a 1:57 p.m. update. The containment lines held.

Officials downgraded the orders to evacuation warnings at 2:15 p.m., Cal Fire stated. The warning covers several nearby streets in Jamestown:

  • Twin Pines Mobile Home Park
  • McKibbon Road
  • Golf Links Road
  • Mountain Vista Court

Fire officials asked people to avoid the area while emergency crews finish responding to the incident. Jamestown residents must keep roads clear for safety.

Cal Fire manages wildland fire protection and emergency response across state responsibility areas. Evacuation warnings alert residents to potential danger so they can prepare to leave. An evacuation order requires immediate departure.

Crews remained on the scene to secure the area and complete mop-up operations in Jamestown.
