Dozens treated for possible food illness at Lebanon Walmart facility
Officials in Lebanon, Tennessee, treated dozens of workers and hospitalized 19 after a suspected food poisoning incident at a local Walmart facility.
Emergency crews treated dozens of people in Lebanon, Tennessee, after a suspected foodborne outbreak at a distribution hub. Nineteen workers were taken to local hospitals for medical care. The incident remains under active investigation.
The Wilson County Emergency Management Agency said crews responded late last week. They initially answered a call for one female worker. She was showing symptoms of a possible food-related illness.
More medics soon arrived. Responders evaluated approximately 25 to 30 patients on the scene. Authorities said food poisoning was suspected, though no additional details were immediately available.
“The health and safety of our associates is a top priority. We’re working with local emergency management and health officials as they investigate.”
Walmart issued that statement on Sunday regarding the situation at the facility. Officials have not established the specific source of the sickness.
The Wilson County Emergency Management Agency provides coordinated rescue operations and emergency medical care across the county. Emergency personnel handle large triage events by assessing patients on site. Responders then transport the most severe cases to regional medical centers.
Health officials continue to review the conditions inside the Lebanon facility. More details have not been released.
