A juvenile driver faces booking in Sacramento after striking a law enforcement motorcycle during a pursuit Wednesday morning. The incident resulted in hospital treatment for the suspect and no reported injuries to officers. Officers detained the youth at the scene.

Just before 9:45 a.m., Sacramento Police Department officers attempted a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop the vehicle. Officers launched a pursuit of the car. They stopped the chase quickly because the suspect drove too dangerously, police said.

A motorcycle officer later attempted to pull the car over again in Sacramento. The suspect intentionally drove into the officer, police said. The motorist then attempted to hit another police vehicle. A Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office vehicle was also targeted. The driver failed to strike either vehicle, according to officials. The police vehicle was transporting a person at that moment.

Officers stopped the car near North B and 7th streets. The juvenile sustained minor injuries and went to a hospital for treatment. Sacramento police said no deputies or officers were injured.

Police pursue vehicles when drivers refuse to yield during traffic stops. Suspects who crash into emergency vehicles face custodial detention. Officers book youths into juvenile facilities on collision charges.

Police said the driver will face booking on charges related to the chase. The charges also include striking an officer.
