Two candidates for Tulsa’s District 1 council seat will face voters on Monday at a community forum organised by Northside Neighbors: incumbent Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper and candidate Corinice Wilson.

The forum is at the 36th Street Event Center, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and residents can register to attend. Community members can ask questions directly and hear what each candidate plans to do with the seat.

District councilors in Tulsa pass local ordinances and approve the municipal budget, which makes a forum like this the most practical preview voters get of how a candidate will handle the job — before the Nov. 3 election decides it.

Stockton holds the same kind of sessions when council seats are contested, and the logic travels: neighbourhood groups host, candidates answer, and voters leave with something a campaign flyer cannot give them. Northside Neighbors is urging residents to make an informed choice.
