SacRT Green Line light rail service resumes in Sacramento
SacRT Green Line service has resumed in Sacramento after a year-long suspension, restoring light rail trains to the River District ahead of a new station opening.
A major Sacramento Regional Transit light rail line reopened Monday after a suspension lasting over a year. Trains now connect transit riders with the 7th and Richards/Township 9 stations in the River District.
The transit agency halted operations in June 2025. Construction teams needed that time to build the new 7th and Railyards station.
The new stop will officially open on Oct. 15. It sits at 7th Street and Railyards Boulevard.
The station will be the 55th light rail stop for the transit system. SacRT said the new stop supports the growing Railyards development. Several residential, retail and entertainment facilities are currently under construction there.
Bus route 11 resumed its regular schedule on Oct. 12. The bus line had provided extended weekday service throughout the light rail closure. The agency stopped several temporary bus runs. Trains run again.
SacRT removed these specific bus trips from the schedule:
- 5:36 a.m. – Club Center to City College
- 7:18 p.m. – City College to Natomas
- 7:30 p.m. – Natomas Marketplace to City College
- 7:48 p.m. – City College to Natomas
- 8:00 p.m. – Natomas Marketplace to City College
Sacramento Regional Transit operates light rail and public bus routes across the Sacramento area. Transit agencies adjust feeder bus routes when rail lines finish major construction projects.
The expanded rail stops now welcome daily passengers heading through the downtown network.
