Police say one person died and several were injured after an incident on a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell on Monday.
A roller coaster incident in Austell left one person dead and several people injured Monday afternoon, police said. The deadly event prompted an immediate emergency response and a major local police investigation.
The Cobb County Police Department reported that the incident occurred at Six Flags Over Georgia. The theme park sits about 15 miles northwest of Atlanta. Major crimes unit detectives will investigate the case.
Officials did not confirm how the person died. They also did not state what caused the other injuries. Details remain limited.

“We are deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today,” the spokesperson said.
Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California announced last month that it was retiring its X2 coaster. Lawsuits alleged serious brain injuries from that ride. Six Flags recently settled a wrongful-death lawsuit with the family of a 22-year-old man. He died following a 2022 ride on that coaster. Three more lawsuits alleging traumatic brain injuries were filed last week.
A 32-year-old man died last year from blunt impact injuries at Universal Epic Universe in Florida. He rode a high-speed roller coaster before his death. Officials ruled that death accidental.
