Elon Musk gave $276 million to Republican super PACs and organizations across Washington over three months. The funding brings his total political contributions so far to $366 million ahead of midterm elections.

A spokesperson for America PAC confirmed the numbers. A report in The New York Times first shared the data. Musk serves as the chief executive officer for Tesla and SpaceX.

Between July and September, Musk directed major funding to several national Republican committees:

  • $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund
  • $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund
  • $10 million to the Republican Governors Association
  • $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association

His America PAC received more than $76 million. He also gave $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC. That committee backs Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton.

If Democrats take control of Washington and win key gubernatorial and attorney general races this November, then America risks becoming a socialist, woke and borderless country. These robust investments have allowed the GOP apparatus to get its message out so Republicans can have a fighting chance to defy history.

Spokesman Andrew Romeo made the statement for America PAC. Requests for comment went to the Senate Leadership Fund. Outreach also went to the Congressional Leadership Fund and Lone Star Liberty PAC.

Musk became the largest known donor in the 2026 midterms, according to the report. He had entered politics during the 2024 elections. He spent hundreds of millions of dollars backing Donald Trump.

He joined the campaign trail. Musk later led a federal cost-cutting effort named the Department of Government Efficiency. The project created cuts to federal jobs and funding.

Musk departed the White House in late May 2025. A public fallout with Trump followed his departure. Musk said last May he planned to spend “a lot less” on politics.

He later told The Economist in July he got “a little too involved in politics.” He also said he “got carried away.”

Musk authorized America PAC that same month to fund a field program. The effort uses $100 million to $120 million for conservative voter turnout. Musk and Trump restored their alliance after the public blowout.

Musk accompanied the president on a state trip to China in May. He also attended Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Washington last month.

Super PACs are independent committees permitted to raise unlimited sums from individuals to back candidates. These groups run advertising campaigns and organize voter outreach independently from candidates.

Comment requests also went to the Republican Governors Association and the Republican Attorneys General Association.
