Four juveniles are in custody following two street thefts in Elk Grove on Friday. Two other suspects remain at large as officers continue to investigate both incidents, authorities stated.

The first incident occurred Friday around 7:15 p.m. in the 9800 block of Elk Grove Florin Road. Two teenagers approached a person on the street. One suspect walked past and snatched a necklace from the victim, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

The pair ran from the area. Officers found them hiding in a nearby backyard. A police K-9 helped officers catch one suspect. The suspects, ages 14 and 15, were booked into Juvenile Hall. They face charges of robbery, conspiracy and resisting arrest.

Officers responded to a second theft at about 10 p.m. in the 9100 block of East Stockton Boulevard. The victim told police that one person in a group of four stole their necklace. The four suspects fled the scene.

Officers arrested two 16-year-old suspects. Both were booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery, conspiracy and resisting arrest.

Juvenile Hall is a secure county facility that houses youth who are facing criminal charges. Staff members supervise detainees while their cases move through the local juvenile court system.

Elk Grove police are still searching for the other two juveniles. The investigation is ongoing.
