Erik Cardenas was arrested on attempted murder charges after a Saturday night shooting in Stockton, police announced. The gunfire struck a vehicle carrying three teenagers, but no one suffered injuries during the incident.

Stockton Police Department officers responded to the 2000 block of South El Dorado Street in the Seaport District. Three male teenagers, aged 19, 16 and 14, were driving in the area. Suspects shot at them and fled in a vehicle.

Bullets hit the victims’ car several times. No injuries were reported. Officers later found the suspects and took them into custody.

Jail records show Erik Cardenas, 19, faces several felony allegations. He is accused of discharging a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle. Records show he was also arrested for committing an offense while on release from a felony.

Two other Stockton men were inside the suspect vehicle, according to jail records:

  • Bobby Orosco, 20
  • Alex Castro, 19

Police arrested both Orosco and Castro for felony accessory to the crime. An accessory charge generally applies to individuals accused of assisting another person involved in a felony. Suspects booked into county custody typically await formal charging decisions from prosecutors.

Officials announced all three arrests following the investigation in Stockton.
