Kenan Michael Shackelford faces multiple felony counts in Fairfield after officers arrested him during an investigation into human trafficking. The arrest followed a tip from a community member that allowed officers to rescue a woman in Solano County.

The Fairfield Police Department responded Monday evening to a business in the 4300 block of Central Place north of Cordelia. Someone reported seeing a woman in distress at the location. Officers found the woman. They determined she was a trafficking victim, according to a police social media post.

Officers later located Shackelford, 36. Police booked him into jail around 7 p.m. Shackelford is charged with five felony counts, including pimping and human trafficking, jail records show.

He received another felony count Tuesday for resisting an officer while in custody. Police praised the resident who called for help.

“The Fairfield Police Department is grateful to the community member who recognized that something was wrong and took the time to report it. That call helped officers intervene and rescue a victim from a dangerous situation.”

Shackelford has a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m. Human trafficking cases involve the exploitation of individuals through force, fraud or coercion. Local law enforcement agencies investigate these tips to protect victims and gather evidence for court proceedings.
